Internet usage is on the up amongst the over 50s. Research shows that we Brits managed to rack up an additional 1.9 million users on the internet last year alone. Of those new users approx. 38% were men over 50 and 15% were women over 50.

It is reckoned that‘silver surfers’ account for 31% of the UK internet audience. The most popular websites amongst the over 50s appear to be (in no particular order):

Tourism seems to be high on the agenda for the majority of website surfing amongst the more mature surfer. More than 86 per cent of you visited a travel website in the past year. The most popular website for the over-50s last summer was Expedia, with 2.3 million visitors, followed by Lastminute.com, with 1.5 million.

So what are you guys using the internet for and which websites do you visit frequently? We’ve started our own list of popular websites and published them on the home page for quick reference, but we want to know more, and we want to get it right.
